The pastoral provision at Swanshurst makes the school an outstanding place to study and grow. The holistic approach of nurturing well rounded, happy students, in a safe and caring environment is led by a pastoral team with a wide range of expertise.
Every year group has access to a pastoral team who have a wide range of expertise with an emphasis on support, care, guidance and academic excellence. The team comprises of a Head and Deputy Head of Year, a Year Team Administrator and a Form Tutor. Support also comes from a dedicated SENCO, a Mental Health Learning Mentor, and our team of Learning Mentors within the Pupil Support Hub. This work is supported by members of the senior leadership team.
The team is dedicated to promoting health and mental well- being, while supporting students in their academic studies. Support is tailored to individual needs; this in turn enables all learners to access the curriculum and realise their potential.
As a school we are particularly proud of our student’s exemplary behaviour as can be seen in the way students conduct themselves in and out of school.
Our values are centred on fostering mutual respect, tolerance and kindness to others; we encourage students to become resilient learners who strive to be the best they can be. Such values and successes are recognised and celebrated via the school reward system.
We have a strong student leadership structure at Swanshurst. Student Ambassadors demonstrate key leadership skills which promote democracy and student voice across the school. Student leaders have close links with the wider community and have been involved in a range of successful charitable projects.
Outstanding care and guidance leads to an outstanding education; at the centre of this provision is our commitment in developing positive relationships with parents and carers so that each individual pupil aspires and achieves.
