Swanshurst joins West Midlands Academy Trust

We are delighted to announce that Swanshurst School, alongside Hall Green School and Kings Norton Girls' school, has officially transferred to and become one of the founding members of West Midlands Academy Trust (WMAT) from 1st January 2025.

At WMAT, we believe in “Achieving more together” through the delivery of high-quality education, personal development, collaboration, accountability, and financial sustainability, while respecting individual school identities.

This vision drives everything we do, as we work to equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to thrive academically, socially, and personally — not only during their time in school, but also in the workplace and in life.

What This Means for Our Pupils:

• Collaborating to further improve the curriculum, our teaching and our resources.
• Opportunities to do things together with WMAT schools that are difficult to achieve alone, such as investment in support for mental health, early help and inclusion.
• Recruitment and retention of staff by developing career pathways and further enhancing professional development.
• Utilising and sharing the best practice from three schools to the benefit of everyone.
