Update on NEU Industrial Action 23rd September

Dear parents and carers,

Further to the letter parents and carers received from the Chair of Governors last week, we write today with advanced details of Wednesday 25th and Monday 30th September which are the next days of planned strike action by some members of the NEU.

This continues to be incredibly frustrating for everyone as we have provided extensive, repeated assurances to all staff on the protection of their terms and conditions as we convert to become an academy and join West Midlands Academy Trust.

We know you will share our frustration that this means that together we must plan for Wednesday 25th and Monday 30th September to be further days where not all pupils can come to school due to strike action. Please be assured that we will continue to do all we can to minimise the disruption this causes to your child’s education.

Wednesday 25th September

The year groups in school will be Year 9, Year 11 and Year 13.

Pupils in Years 7, 8, 10 and 12 will not be in school and will be set a day of home-learning activities to complete on Edulink. Further details will follow on Edulink for parents/ carers who work in the emergency services, for those who may need a Free School Meal package or children with an EHCP.

Monday 30th September

The year groups in school will be Year 7, Year 11 and Year 13.

Pupils in Years 8, 9, 10 and 12 will not be in school and will be set a day of home-learning activities to complete on Edulink. Further details will follow on Edulink for parents/ carers who work in the emergency services, for those who may need a Free School Meal package or children with an EHCP.

We all very much hope that the strikes will be called off. As was the case last week, if the NEU announce that they are suspending these days of action, we will update parents and carers without delay.

We are now completing the processes to convert to become an Academy. So, as we now look to the future, we can begin to plan our continued journey of excellence, further development and collaboration with like-minded schools who share the same passion for education and the community. Like others, we are excited by all the opportunities that becoming an Academy and being a founding school of West Midlands Academy Trust, provides for our school.

Please do get in touch if you have any questions, but in the meantime thank you again for your understanding.

Your sincerely,

Mr M Dunn
