Year 11 Progression Process

Dear Parent/Carer

I am writing to you with a timeline of events for progression to the Sixth Form at Swanshurst School. I’m sure you’re aware that we had another year of outstanding A level & vocational results this summer. Results were better than regional and national results in many categories, and our proportion of the top grades beat local competitors.

October 2025
Look at the Sixth Form area of the school website, with a focus on the subjects on offer and entry requirements. Other local providers will also start to advertise their open day events.

Students complete their ‘Progression Form’, stating their subject choices and thoughts on destinations at this point.

Thursday 11th December 2025
Students will collect the results of their PPE (mock) examinations. They will then have an interview with a senior member of staff to discuss their thoughts and choices for their Post 16 pathway.

Wednesday 7th January 2026 6pm – Sixth Form Open Evening
Departments will be available to answer any questions and provide course information for subjects offered. We look forward to seeing you all at this event. More details to follow.

February-March 2026 - ‘Progression Season’
A focused period when departments will run workshops, sessions or lessons for students interested in their subject. This will be an excellent opportunity to finalise their subject choices.

June 2026 – Sixth Form Induction
Students offered places will spend time in school, attending sixth form lessons and meeting staff and other students. Students will take preparation work home with them to complete over the summer. Date to be confirmed.

August 2026 – Results Day
Achieve brilliant results and confirm your subjects with the 6th form team!

Yours sincerely
