Year 11 Progression Process
Dear Parent/Carer
I am writing to you with a timeline of events for progression to the Sixth Form at Swanshurst School. A large and increasing number of our Year 11 students choose to stay at Swanshurst and progress to our Sixth Form. We are proud to offer a broad range of qualifications from traditional A Levels, new V Levels and well-established BTECs, along with AAQs, and one T Level. We provide comprehensive support throughout this process, making sure our students and their parents are fully informed, allowing them to focus on their studies at this important time.
October 2026
Initial progression assemblies and information. We use ‘applicaa’ for our applications process, and students will receive their log-in information this month. Please explore the Sixth Form area of the school website, with a focus on the subjects on offer and entry requirements.
Students will be able to apply via Applicaa, but are encouraged to wait until they are certain about their subject choices. Students will be able to make changes to their subject choices on applicaa until the February half term.
Thursday 11th December 2026
Students will collect the results of their PPE (mock) examinations. They will then have an interview with a senior member of staff to discuss their thoughts and choices for their Post 16 pathway.
Wednesday 6th January 2027 6pm – Sixth Form Open Evening
Departments will be available to answer any questions and provide course information for subjects offered. We look forward to seeing you all at this event. More details to follow.
February-March 2027 - ‘Progression Season’
Departments will run a variety of workshops, lunchtime sessions, or lessons for students interested in their subject. This will be an excellent opportunity for students to finalise their subject choices.
June 2027 – Sixth Form Induction
Students offered places will be invited to an Induction Day, attending taster lessons and meeting staff and other students. Induction work will be available on the website. Date to be confirmed.
August 2027 – Results Day
