Parent Workshops and Drop-In Appointments

Dear Parent / Carer,

Learning Support Department – Parent Workshops and Drop-In Appointments

This term, we have a range of parent SEND workshops that may be of interest to you. In addition, we will be providing appointment opportunities during the term for you to meet with a member of the Learning Support team to discuss your child’s provision.

Please find below the workshops and ‘drop-ins’ for this term, along with instructions on how to sign up.

• Introduction to Speech and Language Therapy – Tuesday 14th October 2025; 1:30pm
  In this workshop, we will be explaining the speech and language therapy provision within Swanshurst School and general strategies to support your child at home.
  
  A Q&A session will also be held to ask any further questions about your child.

• Reading Workshop – Thursday 23rd October 2025; 9:30am
  A workshop run by Pupil and School Support (PSS) to support those struggling to read at home.

• Neurodiverse Parent Support Group – Thursday 6th November 2025; 1:30pm
  A parent support group for parents of children with neurodiversity, such as Autism, ADHD and Dyslexia. In this session we will discuss how to support organisation and homework.

• Supporting Pupils with Developmental Language Disorder – Tuesday 9th December 2025; 9:30am
  In this workshop, we will be explaining Developmental Language Disorder and strategies to support your child. A Q&A session will also be held to ask any further questions about your child.

• Parent Drop In appointments
  In addition, we are offering 20-minute appointments for parents to meet with the Learning Support team to discuss their child’s provision. These are strictly by appointment only, and can be booked by emailing senadmin@swanshurst.org
  
  The dates for these are:
  • Wednesday 17th September 2025: 2:00pm – 4:00pm
  • Wednesday 1st October 2025: 1:00pm – 3:00pm
  • Wednesday 15th October 2025: 2:00pm – 4:00pm
  • Friday 14th November 2025: 1:00pm – 3:00pm
  • Wednesday 26th November 2025: 1:00pm – 3:00pm
  • Friday 12th December 2025: 1:00pm – 3:00pm

When making your booking, please ensure that you state which day you would like to come in and detail the matters you wish to discuss. We will then send you a timeslot.
