We are delighted to celebrate the success of seven Year 12 students who were crowned winners of the CIPFA Sixth Form Management Games held at Birmingham City University.
The competition provided students with the opportunity to experience the challenges of managing a newly formed local authority. Working within a realistic, scenario-based environment, students assumed leadership roles, responded to evolving challenges, produced reports under strict deadlines, and delivered a presentation to a panel of experts.
"This was a fantastic achievement and a thoroughly deserved result for our students. The competition provided a valuable insight into the world of public sector accounting and the challenges faced by leaders and managers. Throughout the day, the team demonstrated exceptional resilience, professionalism and teamwork, consistently performing to a high standard under significant time pressure. The way they approached each challenge was a credit to them and showed that they are already developing the skills, confidence and determination that will serve them well in the world of work."
- Mr M Early, Business and Economics Teacher
Judges commended the team's professionalism, collaboration, focus, and attention to detail throughout the day. Aqeela A received individual recognition for her "natural leadership", while the entire team was praised for the quality of their contributions.
Having been joint winners of the competition last year, the Swanshurst team secured the title outright this year, demonstrating exceptional resilience, leadership, and teamwork.
Congratulations to all students involved on this outstanding achievement.
