Swanshurst School, in partnership with Birmingham City Council, consulted on a proposal to establish a Resource Base for girls with autism.
The proposed provision would support up to 40 girls in Years 7–11 (8 pupils per year group) with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who meet the admissions guidance for this type of provision.
The Resource Base would open in September 2027 for the first group of Year 7 students and then grow each September as a new Year 7 cohort joins the school.
The consultation ran from 4 March to 27 March 2026. Following the consultation period, all responses were carefully considered by the school and West Midlands Academy Trust.
A total of 32 responses were received through the consultation questionnaire, with 92% of respondents expressing support for the proposal. The consultation report summarises the consultation process, feedback received, and the school's responses to questions and concerns raised during the consultation.
The consultation report is available to download below.
